Would you be a doll? Take out your own essence, reshape it with a dollcraft tool, and put it back to become a little doll.

Becoming a doll

1. Craft the dollcraft tool for the kind of doll you want (recipes below).
2. Take out your essence: open your inventory and click the empty crafting output slot with an empty cursor. You get an Essence Fragment. /doll essence take does the same thing.
3. Reshape it: craft the essence fragment together with your tool. You keep the tool.
4. Put it back: click the crafting output slot again while holding the fragment, or use /doll essence return.

To stop being a doll, reshape your essence with any pickaxe instead of a dollcraft tool.

Pick the tool for the doll you want to become, or a pickaxe to go back to being a player. You keep the tool.

What dolls are like

All dolls:

• are tiny (0.3× size), with less health and weaker attacks;
• can't drown or freeze, and can walk on powder snow;
• don't get anything from food;
• are repaired with their tool. Hold use to repair yourself, or use the tool on another doll. You need the care material in your inventory.

Effects: Fragmented makes you take more damage and Overflowing slows repairs. Milk clears both. When someone looks after you, you get the Cared For bonus (extra absorption hearts).

Carrying dolls around

• Right-click a doll with a Ribbon to put them on your shoulder. You can carry two.
• Sneak and use the ribbon to set a doll down where you're looking.
• A doll wearing a ribbon can ride its own tamed pets, or foxes that trust it.

Dress-up and names

• Sneak and right-click a doll to swap their armor and held items, like with an armor stand.
• Use a name tag on a doll to rename them. A doll can rename themselves by looking straight up and throwing a name tag.
• A doll's nameplate only shows when someone looks right at them.

Doll chat

When a doll talks, most people only see a keysmash. Players within 13 blocks and other dolls can read it normally. Capital letters come through the keysmash. Start a message with \ to skip the filter.

You can tune how your own keysmash looks with /doll chat. Settings include use-keysmashing, letter-pool, base-clarity-chance and more.
